VirtuMonde Adware
This program falls in the adware category, which is a type of spyware. It will silently install itself and record where you go online. In some cases, it can even track what you type. A backdoor is often set up to send this data to a database elsewhere. Virtumonde has a huge number of .dll and .exe files it pretends to be in order to remain unnoticed.
You can remove it manually by deleting all files, processes, and registry entries associate with it. See below for the list. Continue reading
Anti-Virus 2011
This is another scareware program that tries to scare you into buying their product. They sell a fake antivirus known as Antivirus 2011 and, once installed, it will relentlessly badger you with fake scans and popups. It will most likely lock you out of just about anything useful on your PC, such as applications, settings, and websites. To remove, go into safe mode and try to run antispyware scans with programs like Malwarebytes Antimalware and SUPER Antispyware. If all else fails, reinstalling Windows will remove it completely.
Symptoms of a Rogue Antivirus “scareware” like Antivirus 2011:
- Popups when not online
- Virus scans that appear on their own, finding many of them
- Some applications, especially antivirus, will not run
- You get errors and message about trojans and worms
- When online, your search results go to the wrong pages or some websites redirect for no apparent reason
- Windows may be slower than normal
- Many instances of iexplore.exe will be running, even when Internet Explorer is not being used
- You will not be able to change the desktop background
CCleaner – Clean Up Your PC
CCleaner is an excellent program to use when you need to remove junk files and fix registry errors. It is quick and precise but not dangerous like some cleanup tools that can remove important Windows files by accident. It is the safest, fastest way to get your PC speed back up to where it should be.
Remove Spyware with Malwarebytes
Malwarebytes’ Antimalware is a program that can be used to remove viruses, spyware, and other threats from your PC. Installation is simple and it works best in Safe Mode. Please see the video below for our how-to video for using Malwarebytes’ Antimalware:
Internet Security 2010
Do not download this software, and certainly don’t install it. Internet Security 2010 is a fake antivirus program, known as a Rogue Antivirus or Scareware. It will create false security scans, errors, popups redirects, registry errors, and anything else that will make your PC look distressed. It will then demand that you buy the full version in order to rid your PC of these fake VIRUSES that it somehow has managed to find. What’s worse is you can’t even uninstall it, and just trying to do so will send it into a full force tantrum of popups and fake scans until it makes your computer completely unusable. The are only a few ways to get rid of this program:
- Manually delete the program and its registry entries.
- Reinstall Windows.
- Call us and have all the hard work done for you!
